[麩-夫+廣]麥䴬（上古猛反說文麥皮也方言云即今大麥也下與職反字書無此字新字林云[麩-夫+弋]麥芒也案麥字從來夂白虎通云麥金也金王而生火王而死也𪍿從礦省聲[麩-夫+弋]從弋諧聲也久音雖）。

[麩-夫+廣]麥䴬 (the first character is g[ǔ] + m[ěng] fanqie; the Shuowen jiezi says: "Wheat bran." The Fangyan says: "Namely modern barley." The second character is y[ǔ] + zh[í] fanqie; character dictionaries do not have this character. The Xin Zilin says: "[麩-夫+弋] means wheat awns." As for the character mài, it is composed with lái and suī. The Baihu tong says: "Wheat is metal; it is born when metal flourishes and dies when fire flourishes." 𪍿 is composed with a simplified kuàng as phonetic; [麩-夫+弋] is composed with yì as phonetic. Jiǔ is pronounced suī).
