孚附（上方無反詩云萬邦作孚玉篇孚信也又悅也說文云鳥孚卵也從爪從子象形下符遇反切韻云寄也又著也考聲相依附也從付自聲也）。

Nurturing and attaching (孚附: the first character is [pronounced] 方無 [fū]; the Book of Odes says: "The ten thousand states took trust." The Yupian says: "孚 means trust; also to please." The Shuowen says: "A bird hatching eggs. It is composed of 爪 and 子, a pictograph." The second character is [pronounced] 符遇 [fù]; the Qieyun says: "To lodge; also to adhere." The Kaosheng says: "To rely upon and attach to one another. It is composed of 付 with 自 phonetic").
