鵂鶹（上朽尤反下音留考聲云恠鳥也集訓云鵂鶹即𪇑鶘惡鳥也爾雅云鵅鵋䳢郭注云今江東呼鵂鶹為鵋䳢也鵅音格鵋音忌䳢音欺案此鳥晝伏夜飛鵂鶹𪇑鶘皆取所鳴為名也形如角鷹蒼黑色好食虵鼠也）。

鵂鶹 (The first character has the fanqie 朽尤 [xiū]. The second character has the sound 留 [liú]. The Kaosheng states: 'It is a strange bird.' The Jixun states: 'The xiūliú is the tuóhú [screech owl], an ominous bird.' The Erya states: 'The gé, the jìqī.' Guo's commentary states: 'Today in Jiangdong they call the xiūliú the jìqī. 鵅 has the sound 格 [gé]; 鵋 has the sound 忌 [jì]; 䳢 has the sound 欺 [qī].' On examination, this bird roosts by day and flies by night. Xiūliú and tuóhú are both named after their cries; it resembles a horned hawk, of an ashen black colour, and enjoys eating snakes and mice.).
