Limpid and pure (澄澈: for the upper, zhí + lù [chéng]; the character books say, "澄 means clear water." For the lower, zhí + liè [chè]; the Erya says, "澈 means clear waves." The Shuowen says, "澈 also means clear and pure; derived from 水 with an abbreviation of 撤 as phonetic").
