Search out and compose (搜綴: the first character is pronounced *se* + *zou* [= *sōu*]; the *Kaosheng* says it means to seek or to search; the second character is pronounced *zhui* + *wei* [= *zhuì*]; Jia's commentary on the *Guoyu* says that *zhui* means to link together; the *Qieyun* says it means to continue; the *Shuowen jiezi* says it has the silk radical with the phonetic *zhui* [叕]; *zhui* [叕] is pronounced *zhi* + *lie* [= *zhuó* / *zhuò*]).
