Abscess and carbuncle (癕疽: the first character is also written as 癰, pronounced identically with the fanqie *y- / g-*, dictionaries say: "Abscess and boil"; the Yupian says: "A swelling"; it is derived from chuang [爿-〡+(序-予)] with yong 雍 as phonetic; the second character has the fanqie *q- / y-*, Gu Yewang says: "Ju (疽) is also an abscess"; the Shuowen states: "Derived from chuang 疒 with ju 且 as phonetic", pronounced with the fanqie *z- / y-*).
