雜插 [Interspersed and inserted]: The upper [character] has the fanqie 徂合 (cú + hé = zá); the Qieyun says, “To collect; to pierce.” The Zilin says, “Numerous.” The lower [character] has the fanqie 楚洽 (chǔ + qià = chā); the Kaosheng says, “To prick and insert; it derives from 手 [hand] with the phonetic 臿.” 臿 has the same sound as above. Writing it as 𢰔 or 插 are not the original character.
