[Aniruddha] Also called Anuruddha; here translated as 'Unextinguished'. In the past he received the blessing of offering food, enjoying happiness among gods and humans, which remains unextinguished even today. The Jingming shu says: "Also called Aniruddha or Anuruddha, just as regional dialects differ between Chu and Xia. Here translated as 'According to Wish', or 'Without Poverty'. In an age of famine long ago, he once offered millet rice to a pratyekabuddha, and for ninety-one kalpas he enjoyed happiness according to his wish among gods and humans; hence he was named 'According to Wish'. From then on he suffered no lack or deprivation, hence he was named 'Without Poverty'." He was a younger cousin of the Buddha. The Xiyu ji says: "Aniruddha was formerly called Analü, which is an error."
