【阿難】《大論》：「秦言歡喜。佛成道時，斛飯王家使來白淨飯王言：『貴弟生男。』王心歡喜，言：『今日大吉。』語來使言：『是男當字為阿難。』舉國欣慶。又名慶喜。亦翻無染。雖殘思未盡，隨佛入天人龍宮，見女，心無染著故。」《玄》云：「持三藏教。」

[Ānanda] The Dazhidu lun says: "Qin for 'Joy'. When the Buddha attained the Way, a messenger from the household of King Droṇodana came to inform King Śuddhodana, saying: 'Your noble younger brother has borne a son.' The king's heart was filled with joy, and he said: 'Today is exceedingly auspicious.' He told the messenger: 'This boy should be named Ānanda.' The whole country rejoiced. He is also named Celebration and Joy. It is also translated as 'Free of Defilement'. Although his remaining defilements were not yet exhausted, when he accompanied the Buddha into the palaces of gods, humans, and nāgas and saw women, his mind was free of defilement and attachment." The Xuan says: "He maintained the teaching of the Tripiṭaka."
