【薄拘羅】《文句》：「此翻善容，色貌端正故。準《賢愚》經，應翻重姓。」《中阿含》：「異學又問：『汝於八十年起欲想否？』答：『不應作如是問。我八十年，未曾起欲想，尚未曾起一念貢高，未曾受居士衣，未曾割截衣，未曾倩他衣，未曾針縫衣，未曾受請，未曾從大家乞食，未曾倚壁，未曾視女人面，未曾入尼房，未曾與尼相問訊，乃至道路亦不共語，八十年坐。』」荊溪云：「弘法之徒，觀斯龜鏡。」

[Bakkula] The Wenju says: 'This translates as Good Appearance, because his appearance and countenance were upright. According to the Sūtra of the Wise and the Foolish, it should translate as Double Clan.' The Madhyama-āgama says: 'A heterodox thinker asked again: "In eighty years, have you ever given rise to thoughts of desire?" He answered: "You should not ask such a question. In my eighty years, I have never once given rise to thoughts of desire; nor have I ever given rise to a single thought of self-importance; I have never received clothing from householders; I have never cut cloth for robes; I have never asked another to make robes; I have never stitched robes with a needle; I have never accepted invitations; I have never begged food from wealthy families; I have never leaned against a wall; I have never looked at a woman's face; I have never entered a nun's room; I have never exchanged greetings with a nun, nor spoken with one even on the road; for eighty years I have only sat."' Jingxi says: 'Let those who propagate the Dharma look upon this as a mirror.'
