【尸陀】正云尸多婆那，此翻寒林，其林幽邃而寒也。《僧祗》云：「此林多死屍，人入寒畏也。」《法顯傳》名尸摩賒那，漢言棄死人墓田。《四分》名恐畏林。多論名安陀林，亦名晝暗林。

[Śītavana]: Properly called *śītavana*; translated here as 'Cold Forest'. The forest is deep, secluded, and cold. The *Mahāsāṃghika Vinaya* says: 'This forest contains many corpses; people who enter it feel cold and terrified.' The *Account of Faxian* names it *śmaśāna*, which in the language of the Han means 'cemetery where the dead are cast away'. The *Dharmaguptaka Vinaya* names it 'Forest of Terror'. The *Vibhāṣā* names it 'Andhavana' [Blind Forest], and also 'Daytime-Dark Forest'.
