【東弗于逮】《西域記》云：「海中可居者，大略有四焉。東毘提訶洲，舊曰弗婆提，又曰弗于逮，訛也。此云勝，勝南洲故。又云前，一在諸方之前也。又翻為初，謂日初出處也。」《俱舍》云：「東毘提訶洲，其相如半月，身長八肘，壽二百五十。」

[Pūrvavideha] The Record of the Western Regions says: "Among those in the sea that can be inhabited, there are roughly four. Pūrvavidehadvīpa, formerly called Fupoti or Fuyudai, both of which are corrupt. Here it is translated as 'Superior', because it is superior to the southern continent. It is also translated as 'Front', meaning it is in front of the other quarters. It is also translated as 'First', referring to the place where the sun first rises." The Abhidharmakośa says: "Pūrvavidehadvīpa resembles a half-moon in shape; [its people's] bodies are eight cubits tall, and their lifespan is two hundred and fifty [years]."
