[Pasādika] or called brahma, is translated here as "pure." Ge Hong's Ziyuan says: "Brahma means clean." It merely takes this meaning. The Dazhidu lun says: "Although done for all sentient beings, this mind is not pure: not knowing that one's own body has no self, not knowing that the recipient has no person and no master, not knowing the true nature of the given thing. It cannot be stated as one, nor can it be stated as different. Having attachment in mind toward these three things is being impure." The Ratnagotravibhāga says: "First, natural purity, referring to liberation through the purity of nature; second, purity free from defilement, referring to liberation through the exhaustion of hindrances." The Dazhidu lun says: "Ultimate emptiness is precisely ultimate purity; because people fear emptiness, it is called pure."
