【火夜】秦言喚來。《大品》火字門,入諸法喚不可得故。論曰:「即知一切法無音聲相。」《華嚴》唱訶(上聲)婆(上聲)字時,名觀察一切無緣眾生,方便攝受,令出生無礙力。疏云:「即可呼召性,無緣召令有緣故。」
[Hvaya / Āhvaya] In Qin it means "to call to come". In the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, as for the hva-syllable gate, it is because one enters into the ungraspability of calling regarding all phenomena. The Śāstra says: "One immediately knows that all phenomena lack the characteristic of sound." In the Avataṃsaka Sūtra, when intoning the syllable hba (rising tone for both ha and ba), it is called observing all sentient beings without affinity, skillfully gathering them in, and causing them to produce unimpeded power. The Commentary says: "Namely, the nature of calling: calling those without affinity to make them have affinity."
