【娑路多羅戌縷多】此云能聞。《瑜伽》云：「數數於此，聲至於聞，故翻為耳，是能聞義。」《楞嚴》：「耳如新卷葉。」或云：「耳如卷樺皮。」

[Śrotra]: Here translated as "capable of hearing." The Yogācārabhūmi says: "Repeatedly through this, sounds arrive at hearing; therefore it is translated as 'ear,' which has the meaning of being capable of hearing." The Śūraṅgama-sūtra says: "The ear is like a freshly curled leaf." Or it is said: "The ear is like rolled birch bark."
