【那爛陀】《西域記》曰：「唐云施無厭。此伽藍南。菴沒羅園中有池，其龍名那爛陀，旁建伽藍，因取其稱。從其實議，是如來昔行菩薩道時，為大國王，建都此地。憐愍眾生，好樂周給，時美其德，號施無厭。」大宋《僧傳》云：「那爛陀寺，周圍四十八里，九寺一門，是九天王所造。西域伽藍，無如其廣矣！」

【Nālandā】 The *Xiyu ji* states: "In the Tang language, it means 'giving without satiety'. To the south of this saṅghārāma, there is a pond in an āmra grove where a nāga named Nālandā resides; the saṅghārāma was built beside it and took its name from it. According to the true facts, when the Tathāgata in the past practiced the bodhisattva path, he was a great king who established his capital here. Pitying sentient beings and delighting in providing for them generously, contemporaries praised his virtue and called him 'Giving without Satiety'." The Great Song *Biographies of Eminent Monks* states: "The Nālandā Monastery was forty-eight *li* in circumference, with nine temples and a single gate, built by nine kings. Among the saṅghārāmas of the Western Regions, none equaled its vastness!"
