【鉢吒】唐言縵條，即是一幅㲲無田相者，三衣俱通縵也。佛法至此一百八十七年，出家未識割截，秖著此衣。

[Paṭa] In the Tang language, it is called a plain strip (māntiao); that is, a single piece of fine cotton cloth without the appearance of [paddy] fields. All three robes may be made in this seamless form. For one hundred and eighty-seven years after the Buddhadharma reached this land, those who went forth did not yet know how to cut and piece together [the robes], and wore only this garment.
