[Mamakāra] In the language of Qin, it means "mine." The syllable ma door in the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra is because 'mine' in all dharmas is ungraspable. The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: "If one hears the syllable ma, one immediately knows that all dharmas are free from 'mine'." Sengzhao said: "The self is the master of myriad things, and myriad things are what belong to the self." Master Daosheng also said: "With the sentiment of a self, all dharmas external to it are considered to belong to oneself." The Vimalakīrti Commentary says: "The internal mental conceptualization of dharmas is the 'self', and taking the ten dharma realms [as its object] is 'mine'." In the Avataṃsaka Sūtra, when chanting the syllable ma, it is named "the great torrent surging, myriad peaks towering together." The Commentary says: "That is the nature of grasping at 'mine'; conceit of self rises high like myriad peaks towering together. Through conceit of self, the long stream of birth and death rushes and surges furiously."
