1.14

佛聖師子王　阿難是佛子　師子座處坐
觀眾無有佛　如是大德眾　無佛失威神
如空無月時　有宿而不嚴　汝大智人說
汝佛子當演　何處佛初說　今汝當布現

“The Buddha is the holy lion king; / Ānanda is the Buddha’s son. / Sitting upon the lion seat, / He beholds the assembly without the Buddha. / In such a great assembly of virtue, / Without the Buddha it has lost its majesty, / Just as when the sky lacks the moon, / Though stars be present, it is not adorned. / Speak, you man of great wisdom! / You, son of the Buddha, must expound! / Where did the Buddha first preach? / Now you must display and reveal it.”
