1.16

佛初說法時　爾時我不見　如是展轉聞
佛在波羅㮈　佛為五比丘　初開甘露門
說四真諦法　苦集滅道諦　阿若憍陳如
最初得見道　八萬諸天眾　皆亦入道跡

“When the Buddha first preached the Dharma, / I did not see it at that time; / Having heard it passed on in this manner: / The Buddha was in Vārāṇasī. / For the sake of the five monks, / The Buddha first opened the gate of ambrosia, / Preaching the Dharma of the four noble truths: / The truths of suffering, origin, cessation, and path. / Ājñāta-Kauṇḍinya / Was the first to attain the vision of the Way; / Eighty thousand hosts of devas / Also entered upon the path of the Way.”
