是千阿羅漢。聞是語已。上昇虛空高七多羅樹。皆言。無常力大。如我等眼見佛說法。今乃言我聞。便說偈言。
When the one thousand arhats heard these words, they ascended into the sky to a height of seven tāla trees, and all said: “Great is the power of impermanence! Whereas we saw the Buddha preaching the Dharma with our own eyes, now it is said: ‘Thus have I heard.’” Then they spoke a verse:
