置難形神援譬薪火。庾闡發其議。謝瞻廣其意。然桓譚未及聞經先著。此言有足奇者。宜其掇附也。

Regarding the dilemma of body and spirit and the analogy of firewood and flame, Yu Chan initiated the argument, and Xie Zhan expanded its import. Yet Huan Tan, before having heard the sūtras, had already composed these words, which is truly remarkable; it is indeed fitting to gather and append them.
