10.43

又宋孝建中。釋普明者。少出家。稟性清純。蔬食布衣懺誦為業。誦法花維摩。若諷誦時。有別衣別座。未嘗穢雜。每至勸發品。輒見普賢乘象立其前。誦維摩亦聞空中倡樂之聲云。

Furthermore, during the Xiaojian era of the Song, there was Shi Puming. He entered the monastic order in his youth. His disposition was pure and unblemished. He ate vegetables, wore coarse cloth robes, and took repentance and recitation as his practice. He recited the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra and the Vimalakīrti-sūtra. Whenever he chanted them, he had separate robes and a separate seat, never allowing any defilement or mixture. Whenever he reached the 'Encouragement [of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra]' chapter, he always saw Samantabhadra riding an elephant and standing before him. When reciting the Vimalakīrti-sūtra, he also heard the sounds of music playing in the sky.
