The śramaṇa Shi Tanjue, also called Huijue, was a native of Liangzhou. His stature reached the skies, and his bearing and spirit were perceptive and bright. The ground of his precepts was pure and eminent, and his discerning wisdom penetrated the subtle. In the kingdom of Khotan, he obtained the Sanskrit text of the Damamūkanidāna Sūtra. In the sixth year of the Taipingzhenjun era of Emperor Taiwu of the Wei, the cyclical year yiyou, he translated it in one work (fifteen fascicles) at Tian'an Monastery in Gaochang Commandery.
