The śramaṇa Īśvara (which means "Sovereign"), a native of the Western Regions, was thoroughly conversant with the Tripiṭaka and understood the four Āgamas from end to end. During the Yuanjia era of Emperor Wen of the Song, he traveled to Pengcheng. For Wang Zhongde, who was then Regional Inspector of Xuzhou, he translated one work, the Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya Śāstra (eleven fascicles). The regional inspector personally served as scribe.
