As for the ancient canonical scriptures: these are remnants of texts translated in early times. Although the scriptural texts are scattered and lost, with many being missing, when observing the surviving pieces, the ancient and modern can be distinguished. Some have no distinct title, taking phrases from the scripture as the heading; or they summarize the four Āgamas, selecting a single incident to establish the title of the fascicle. Their phrasing is unadorned and authentic, truly ancient canons.
