The above is extracted from fascicle thirty of the Saṃyuktāgama; a variant translation (the main text has two sūtras; here they are combined into one, and its text is slightly more extensive; older catalogues placed it among the single translations, but it is now arranged here).
*Sūtra on the Horse Having Three Marks*, one fascicle (also called *Good Horse Having Three Marks*),
translated by the Western Regions Tripiṭaka master Zhi Yao under the Later Han.
*Sūtra on the Horse Having Eight Manners as a Metaphor for People*, one fascicle (also simply called *The Horse Having Eight Manners*),
translated by the Western Regions Tripiṭaka master Zhi Yao under the Later Han.
The above two sūtras are both extracted from fascicle thirty-three of the Saṃyuktāgama; variant translations.
*Sūtra on Mutual Correspondence and Agreement*, one fascicle, translated by the Western Jin śramaṇa Shi Faju (supplemented and included).
The above is extracted from the aforementioned single-fascicle Saṃyuktāgama; a variant translation.
*Secret Essential Sūtra on Curing Meditation Sickness*, one fascicle (also called *Methods*, lacking the word *Sūtra*, or in two fascicles),
translated by the Song layperson Juqu Jingsheng.
(The title at the beginning of the above single sūtra says: "Questions by the Venerable Śāriputra, extracted from the miscellaneous matters of the araṇya in the Saṃyuktāgama." Now examining the main text of the Saṃyuktāgama, there is no such text. Perhaps the Sanskrit text was not fully translated. Since it says it is extracted from there, it is provisionally placed at the end. However, examining the text and doctrinal meaning, it slightly overlaps with Mahāyāna sūtras. Older catalogues placed it in compilations and accounts, but this was feared to be deviant and improper).
The above thirty-one sūtras, in thirty-one fascicles, share the same case.
From the *Sūtra on the Five Aggregates Being Empty* downward, sixteen sūtras are all separate sūtras extracted from the Saṃyuktāgama; variant translations.
*Mātaṅgī Sūtra*, one fascicle (also titled *Sūtra on Ānanda Being Bewitched by the Sorcery Girl*),
translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation).
*Sūtra on the Mātaṅgī Girl Explaining the Six Things in the Body*, one fascicle, anonymous translation (now appended to the Eastern Jin catalogue; fifth translation).
*Mātaṅgī Sūtra*, three fascicles (or two fascicles), translated jointly by the Wu Indian śramaṇa Zhu Luyan and Zhi Qian (appears in Fashang's catalogue; third translation).
*Śārdūlakarṇa Sūtra*, one fascicle (also titled *Crown Prince's Sūtra on the Twenty-Eight Lunar Mansions*, or titled *Tiger-Ear Sūtra*),
translated by the Western Jin Tripiṭaka master Dharmarakṣa; fourth translation.
The above four sūtras are different translations of the same text (the former two sūtras are merely a single chapter of the latter sūtra; of the five translations in all, one translation is lost).
*Sūtra on the Ghost Questioning Maudgalyāyana*, one fascicle, translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation).
*Miscellaneous Piṭaka Sūtra*, one fascicle (its text and meaning differ slightly from the preceding and succeeding sūtras),
translated by the Eastern Jin Pingyang śramaṇa Shi Faxian (second translation).
*Sūtra on the Karmic Retribution of Hungry Ghosts*, one fascicle (also titled *Sūtra on Maudgalyāyana Explaining the Causes and Conditions of Hell and Hungry Ghosts*), anonymous translation (now appended to the Eastern Jin catalogue; third translation).
The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text (of the four translations in all, one translation is lost).
*Sūtra on Ānanda's Inquiries Regarding the Auspicious and Inauspicious in Serving the Buddha*, one fascicle (or titled *Sūtra on Ānanda's Inquiries Regarding Matters*, also called *Sūtra on the Auspicious and Inauspicious in Serving the Buddha*),
translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation).
*Sūtra on Slighted Dharma*, one fascicle, translated by the Western Jin śramaṇa Shi Faju (second translation; supplemented and included).
*Sūtra on Ānanda's Discrimination*, one fascicle (or simply called *Discrimination Sūtra*),
translated by the Qifu Qin śramaṇa Shi Shengjian (third translation).
The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text (the *Sūtra on Slighted Dharma* is newly recognized as a re-translation; of the four translations in all, one translation is lost).
*Sūtra of the Five Mothers and One Son*, one fascicle, translated by the Wu Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian (first translation).
*Śāmīra-sūtra*, one fascicle; Sengyou's catalogue says: "Master Daoan's Variant Sūtra from Guanzhong, in the Three Qin Catalogue" (second translation).
The above two sūtras are different translations of the same text (regarding the *Śāmīra-sūtra*, the Great Zhou Catalogue says it was translated by Dharmakṣema, taken from Changfang's catalogue; examining Fang's catalogue now, it is not therein, so the Zhou catalogue is mistaken).
*Yuye Sūtra*, one fascicle (or called *Yuye Girl Sūtra*); Sengyou's catalogue says it is Master Daoan's anonymous translation (now appended to the Western Jin catalogue; first translation, supplemented and included).
*Yuye Sūtra*, one fascicle (also titled *Sūtra on the Elder Visiting the Buddha to Explain His Daughter-in-law's Disrespect*),
translated by the Eastern Jin Western Regions śramaṇa Zhu Tanwulan (second translation).
*Asutta-sūtra*, one fascicle, translated by the Song Indian Tripiṭaka master Guṇabhadra (third translation).
The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text.
*Sūtra on the Origin of Practice*, two fascicles (also titled *Origin of Past Practice*), translated jointly by the Later Han Western Regions śramaṇa Zhu Dali and Kang Mengxiang (third translation).
The above sixteen sūtras, in nineteen fascicles, share the same case.
*Sūtra on the Crown Prince's Auspicious Responsive Origin*, two fascicles (also titled *Auspicious Response of the Origin*, or simply *Auspicious Responsive Origin*),
translated by the Wu Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian (fourth translation).
*Sūtra on Past and Present Causes and Effects*, four fascicles, translated by the Song Indian Tripiṭaka master Guṇabhadra (sixth translation).
The above three sūtras are different translations of the same text (the former two sūtras are abridged and incomplete; of the six translations in all, three translations are lost).
*Ocean of Dharma Sūtra*, one fascicle, translated by the Western Jin śramaṇa Shi Faju (supplemented and included; second translation).
*Sūtra on the Eight Virtues of the Ocean*, one fascicle, translated by the Later Qin Tripiṭaka master Kumārajīva (appears in Fashang's catalogue; third translation, supplemented and included).
The above two sūtras are different translations of the same text (of the three translations in all, one translation is lost).
*Sūtra of Forty-two Chapters*, one fascicle, translated jointly by the Later Han Indian śramaṇas Kāśyapa Mātanga and Zhu Falan (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
*Sūtra on the Causes and Conditions of Āmrapālī and Jīvaka*, one fascicle (sometimes without the words *Causes and Conditions*, or simply called *Āmrapālī Sūtra*),
translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
*Sūtra on the Karmic Retributions of Sins and the Instruction of the Hells*, one fascicle (or called *Sūtra on Karmic Retribution of Hell*),
translated by the Parthian Tripiṭaka master An Shigao under the Later Han (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
*Sūtra on the Dragon King Brothers*, one fascicle (also titled *Sūtra on Nanda the Dragon King*, also titled *Sūtra on Subduing the Dragon King*),
translated by the Wu Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
*Sūtra on the Elder Yinyue*, one fascicle (or called *Sūtra on the Elder Yinyue and Pūraṇa Kāśyapa*),
translated by the Wu Yuezhi upāsaka Zhi Qian (first translation; of two translations, one is lost).
The above nine sūtras, in thirteen fascicles, share the same case (the *Sūtra on the Elder Yinyue* was arranged within the Mahāyāna canon in the Zhou catalogue; now, examining its text and doctrine, it has been moved here).
*Secret Essential Sūtra on Meditation*, three fascicles (or called *Secret Essential Method of Meditation*, or in four fascicles),
translated by the Later Qin Tripiṭaka master Kumārajīva (second translation; of three translations, two are lost).
(Regarding the above *Secret Essential Sūtra on Meditation*, in the various ancient catalogues it was always placed in compilations and accounts. Now examining this sūtra, its beginning, middle, and end portions are extremely distinct; the upper and lower texts mostly elucidate meditation contemplation, among which contemplation of the Buddha, contemplation of [impurity], etc., elucidate matters of repenting and eliminating grave sins. Since it slightly overlaps with the Mahāyāna and is not an authored work, it is accordingly placed here. Furthermore, in various catalogues there is another *Secret Essential Sūtra on Meditation* in five fascicles, said to have been translated by the Song Tripiṭaka master Dharmamitra; its text is extremely confused and unfit for circulation, as detailed in the *Catalogue of Pruning the Superfluous*).
