[…] Left Pushe Wei Juyuan, Duke of Shu State, Right Pushe Su Gui, Duke of Xu State, and others supervised the translation. Wang Yong, Prince of Sihao and Grand Director of the Palace Library, oversaw the proceedings. Furthermore, arriving at the Xinhai year, the second year of Jingyun under Ruizong, he translated again at Da Jianfu Temple the Sūtra of the Divine Dhāraṇī Praising the Merits of the Tathāgata, the Sūtra of the Dharma Seal Expounded by the Buddha for the Dragon King, the Sūtra of Brief Admonition, and others; the Verses of the Treatise on the Diamond-Cutting Prajñā and its commentary, the Treatise on the Nyāyamukha of Hetuvidyā, the Verses on Contemplating General Characteristics, the Verses on the Gate of Samatha-Vipaśyanā, the Treatise on the Staff, and others; as well as the Lotus, the Pramāṇasamuccaya, and the One Hundred and Fifty Praises; altogether twelve works in twenty-one fascicles. The śramaṇas Hālimati, Uttara-deva, and others read the Sanskrit text; the śramaṇas Xuanji, Zhiji, and others recorded the translations; the śramaṇa Huizhao and others certified the meaning; Xue Chongyin, Minister of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices and Duke of Wei State, oversaw the proceedings. In total, from the Gengzi year, the first year of Jiushi under the Empress Dowager, to the Xinhai year, the second year of Jingyun under Ruizong, he translated altogether fifty-six works in two hundred and thirty fascicles. He also separately composed the Great Tang Account of Eminent Monks Who Sought the Dharma in the Western Regions, the Account of the Inner Dharma Sent Home from the Southern Seas, the Essential Rules of Practice for Separately Confessing Transgressions, the Essential Rules for the Use of the Three Waters, and the Ritual Procedures for Protecting Life and Releasing Living Beings, making altogether five works in nine fascicles. He also brought forth the Vastu of the Sarvāstivāda (which are of the category of skandhaka and varga in the various vinayas; the Sanskrit pronunciations merely have regional variations) in approximately seventy to eighty fascicles. Having only brought forth its raw text, he had not yet had the leisure to edit and arrange it when he suddenly entered nirvāṇa, and the text subsequently lapsed into abeyance. Yijing also extracted various origination narratives from the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya to circulate as independent works, such as the Makara Origination Narrative and others, forty-two sūtras in forty-nine fascicles. Since these are extracted and abridged scriptures, they should not be counted among the formal number of translations. They are now recorded in the Catalogue of Extracted Texts, with their full titles listed as in the Catalogue of Pruned Redundancies. Although Yijing translated across the entire Tripiṭaka, he devoted particular effort to the Vinayapiṭaka. In the intervals of translating and compiling, he personally gave instruction to his disciples. In all matters of practice, he prioritized what was urgent; in straining water and washing off filth, he was uniquely distinguished from ordinary peers. His disciples transmitted his practices throughout the two capitals of Chang'an and Luoyang. How wonderful, indeed a grand achievement for the bequeathed Dharma! He passed away in the second year of Xiantian, at the age of seventy-nine.
Mahāratnakūṭa Sūtra, one hundred and twenty fascicles (a compilation of sole and redundant translations; commenced in the second year of Shenlong and completed in the second year of Xiantian).
The above scripture combines forty-nine new and old translated sūtras into a single work. Among them, twenty-six assemblies in thirty-nine fascicles were extracted as Bodhiruci's new translations. The remaining twenty-three assemblies in eighty-one fascicles were all collated and incorporated from old translations; since they are already provided in the other catalogues, they are not repeated here. The titles of the newly translated assemblies are fully listed as in the Classified Catalogue, set out sequentially at the beginning of the eleventh fascicle under the Ratnakūṭa section.
