"Good sons! Profound prajñā is without knowing and without seeing, does not act and does not take objects, neither abandons nor receives; it abides correctly in observation without the mark of illumination, for one who walks this path is like empty space. The characteristics of dharmas being like this, a mind of attainment and a mind of non-attainment are both ungraspable. Therefore, prajñā is neither identical to the five aggregates nor separate from the five aggregates; neither identical to sentient beings nor separate from sentient beings; neither identical to objective realms nor separate from objective realms; neither identical to practice and understanding nor separate from practice and understanding. Such characteristics as these are inconceivable. For this reason, in all practices cultivated by bodhisattvas mahāsattvas, while not yet having reached the ultimate they practice within it; all buddhas know them to be like illusions and transformations, attain the signless state of non-abiding, and within it transform [beings]. Therefore, the fourteen kṣāntis are inconceivable.
