2.46

經。須菩提若有善男子至恒河沙等身布施　演曰。下校量顯勝。於中有二。初舉捨身多後校聞經福。初中復二。初施廣後時長。此初也。彼論得何等福德示現勝挍量故。頌云以事及時大。此即事大以一日中捨多身故。

Sūtra: 'Subhūti, if a good man…' up to '…gives away as many bodies as the sands of the Ganges…'
Exposition: Below is weighing the comparison to show its superiority. Therein are two parts: first, citing the multitude of renounced bodies; later, comparing it to the merit of hearing the sūtra. Within the first, there are again two: first, the breadth of the giving; later, the length of time. This is the first. In that treatise, to display the superior comparison for 'what kind of merit does one obtain', the verse says: 'Because the matter and the time are great.' This is the greatness of the matter, because within a single day one renounces many bodies.
