經。何以故　贊曰。上明生實相因。答□問竟。次明能生實相。答修伏問。於中分五。問答徵釋結。此初也。此問意。云何以要由修三學等。前四種因。方能於經生實相耶。

Sūtra: “Why is this?”
Commentary: Above, the causes for generating the true mark were explained, concluding the answer to the question about [abiding]. Next, the text clarifies the ability to generate the true mark, answering the questions about cultivating and subduing. Within this there are five parts: question, answer, interrogation, explanation, and conclusion. This is the first. The meaning of this question is: Why is it necessary to rely on the four causes—such as cultivating the three trainings—in order to be able to generate the true mark regarding the sūtra?
