Sūtra: "What the Buddha speaks of as atoms... are called a collection of atoms." Commentary: This is the resolution. The Buddha speaks of atoms as a simile for analyzing bodily marks. Because one does not see the composite mark of form and mind, one can depart from delusion and clinging, and relying on the true, arouse transformations, just as the world gives rise to atoms, neither one nor different. To reveal such a meaning, he conventionally speaks of atoms; they are not truly existent. The inner and outer collections of atoms are merely conventional retributions. Below, breaking down and refuting the aggregates, form, mind, and mental factors are conventionally named atoms, to illustrate the meaning of the transformation body arising reliant upon the true being neither one nor different; thus he merely speaks of a "collection of atoms."
