2.46

經。須菩提至壽者相　贊曰。下明忍差別。即種類忍。言種類忍者。此五百世相續苦忍。是前割截極苦忍類。或五百世生生常行前後相似故名種類忍。非一故名為差別。忍辱仙人者即慈悲仙人也。

Sūtra: "Subhūti," up to "the mark of a life-span." Commentary: Below clarifies the distinctions of forbearance, which is forbearance of kind. Regarding "forbearance of kind," this enduring of suffering continuously for five hundred lifetimes belongs to the same kind as the previous forbearance of extreme suffering when dismembered. Or, because he constantly practiced it life after life for five hundred lifetimes, with earlier and later being similar, it is called forbearance of kind. Because they are not one, they are called distinctions. "The Forbearance-Seer" is the Compassionate Seer.
