[Sūtra:] "'Subhūti, what do you think? Does a bodhisattva adorn Buddha lands?'"

Hereafter, the sixth doubt is resolved. This is called the doubt concerning the bodhisattva adorning lands. The Treatise states the doubt, saying: "If noble persons are designated by unconditioned dharmas, and this dharma cannot be grasped and cannot be spoken of, why do bodhisattvas grasp the adornment and purification of Buddha lands?" To resolve this doubt, the sūtra text has five [parts]: first, question; second, answer; third, interrogation; fourth, explanation; fifth, exhortation. This is the initial question. Why the Tathāgata asked Subhūti in reverse is to clarify whether bodhisattvas must certainly not adorn Buddha lands with a mind that grasps characteristics.
