[Sūtra:] "Subhūti, what do you think? Has the Tathāgata attained anuttarā samyaksambodhi? Does the Tathāgata have any Dharma that he has preached?" From here on resolves the third doubt. This is called the doubt concerning the nirmāṇakāya Buddha's realization and teaching. The treatise sets out the doubt, saying: "Earlier it was said that one cannot see the Tathāgata by the perfection of bodily marks. Why is this? Because the Tathāgata does not obtain his name by conditioned marks. If so, how did Śākyamuni Buddha attain anuttarā samyaksambodhi and come to be called 'Buddha'? How does he preach the Dharma for people?" To resolve this doubt, the sūtra text has two parts: 1. resolving the doubt through question and answer; 2. demonstrating superiority through comparison. The former has six parts: 1. question, 2. answer, 3. inquiry, 4. explanation, 5. re-inquiry, 6. re-explanation. This is the first, the question: "In your estimation, is the bodhi attained by the nirmāṇakāya Tathāgata a true attainment? Is the preaching of the four noble truths a true preaching?"
