“Just as the great wind moves through all worlds without obstruction”: this clarifies that the Mahāyāna possesses the power of mastery, moving freely without bounds and without obstruction. “Just as empty space is unattached to all existence”: this equal mind of the Mahāyāna responds to and transforms sentient beings; though entering the five desires, it has no attachment, no different from empty space. “Just as the lotus flower is unstained in the world”: although the lotus flower abides in the mire, it is not stained by the mire; this clarifies that although the Mahāyāna manifests in response within the three realms and five desires to teach and transform, it does not cling to the five desires.
