The second subdivision is from "The jeweled sand shines through clearly" through "named Sukhāvatī." This explains that when bodhisattvas and śrāvakas wish according to their desires to hear the exquisite sounds of the jeweled pond discriminating and clarifying the dharma characteristics, it spontaneously responds accordingly. "The jeweled sand shines through clearly": this is an illustration of the diamond-like final mind of the mahāsattvas: their illumination of principle being pervasive, they are on a par with the Buddhas; hence it says that there is nothing deep that is not illuminated. "Ripples and swirling currents": this refers to entering saṃsāra to guide beings according to need. "Mutually pouring into each other": this refers to progressively transforming lesser-practicing bodhisattvas so as to make them advance. "Neither slow nor rapid": this refers to verbal teachings guiding beings from the small to the great without speaking rashly. "Waves surging immeasurably": this refers to responding and transforming without fixed direction, expounding the various dharmas. "Sometimes hearing the sound of the Buddha": this praises the Buddha Jewel. "Sometimes hearing the sound of the Dharma": this praises the Dharma Jewel. "Sometimes hearing the sound of the Saṅgha": this praises the Saṅgha Jewel. "Sometimes hearing the sound of quiescence": this praises nirvāṇa's freedom from entanglement as quiescence. "The sound of non-self": there is no self within the twenty-five states of existence. "The sound of great loving-kindness and compassion": loving-kindness desires to bestow happiness, and compassion plucks out suffering. "The sound of non-action": within the unconditioned principle, there is no conditioned arising or action.
