經。爾時至會坐　第五大將解衛文分為三。一明大將。二明擁護。三明讚勸。就初文中文分為三。一總標大將。二別列其名。三明其眷屬。此則初也。能大將領鬼神故名大將。

Sūtra: "At that time... seated in the assembly."
Fifth, the generals' pledge of protection has three parts: first, explaining the generals; second, explaining their protection; third, explaining their praise and exhortation. In the first part, the text is divided into three: first, identifying the generals in general; second, listing their names individually; third, explaining their retinues. This is the first. Being able to command ghosts and spirits on a large scale, they are called generals.
