Sūtra: “If this sūtra roll…” to “…restored as before.” Fourth, benefiting the upholder by dispelling calamities. This means that if there is again a person who recites and upholds this sūtra and concentrates their mind in single-minded mindfulness of the Tathāgata's name, the Vivṛtaprameya-śāstra (Wuxing lun) says: “Although this seed of one thought of correct hearing and perfuming is within the worldly mind that possesses outflows, precisely speaking, it is a seed of the supramundane mind without outflows. Although this outflow-free mind has not yet arisen, it already possesses four virtues: first, it is already able to counteract the entanglements of afflictions so that they no longer actively manifest; second, it is able to counteract the evil, dangerous destinies so that one does not experience their retribution; third, it can serve as a revealing cause for the dharmakāya; fourth, it can serve as a generative cause for the liberation-body.” Because of this, where the person who upholds the sūtra resides, there is no untimely death, nor do any evil ghosts steal their vital spirit. Even if it has been stolen, through the Tathāgata's majestic power, they are restored as before, with body and mind peaceful and at ease.
