4.79

彌勒聞說是以白佛已下第二段明彌勒受如來付囑也。我當遠離如斯之惡。彌勒豈有此過。但為於末代持經之人應離此過故作斯言耶。

From "Maitreya, having heard this spoken, addressed the Buddha..." downward is the second section, explaining Maitreya receiving the Tathāgata's entrustment: "I shall stay far away from such evils." How could Maitreya have these faults? He merely spoke these words so that those who maintain the sūtra in the final era would leave behind these faults.
