譬如諸天共寶器食隨其福德飯色有異　此二喻也。肇曰。飯在器色一在乎。不同飯。豈有異。異自天耳。佛土不同。方此可知。故下文云。諸佛如來功德平等。為教化眾生故而現佛土不同。

"Just as when the gods eat together from a jewel vessel, the colour of the rice differs according to their merit." This second part is the analogy. Sengzhao says: "The rice is in one vessel; its colour is uniform, so how could the rice have differences? The difference comes from the gods themselves. That the Buddha-lands differ may be understood by comparison with this. Hence the text below says: 'The merits of all Buddhas, Tathāgatas, are equal; for the sake of teaching and transforming sentient beings, they manifest different Buddha-lands.'"
