"This body is like a cluster of foam, which cannot be grasped or rubbed." Below this are ten similes clarifying the contemplation of emptiness. The body has delusion as its cause and false retribution as its fruit; observing this principle is called 'awakening to emptiness.' Furthermore, the four great elements are illusory, deceptive, and untrue; hence they are empty, not merely empty through destruction and cyclical change. Sengzhao states: "That a cluster of foam cannot be grasped or rubbed reveals its lack of reality; this is used as a simile to contemplate the body's falsity. From here down to the simile of lightning clarifies the meaning of emptiness."
