蓋諸大眾得無所畏　此下二明蓋眾無畏德文二。此初標也。肇曰。菩薩別有四無所畏。一得聞總持。二知眾生根。三不見能難已使不能答者。四隨問能答善決眾疑。有此四德故能暎蓋大眾。

“Surpassing the great assembly and attaining fearlessness”: Below, the second part clarifies the virtue of surpassing the assembly with fearlessness. The text has two parts; this first presents it. Zhao says: “Bodhisattvas separately have four kinds of fearlessness: first, attaining dhāraṇī of what is heard; second, knowing the capacities of sentient beings; third, not seeing anyone who can challenge them such that they cannot answer; fourth, being able to answer according to questions and skillfully resolving all doubts. Possessing these four virtues, they can overshadow and surpass the great assembly.”
