所以者何。憶念。昔者佛為諸比丘略說法要　二略釋文二。此初佛先略說。肇曰。如來常略說。有為法無常苦空無我。無為法寂滅不動。此二言總一切法盡故言略也。生曰。為悟所津若出由戶也。

"Why is this? I recall that formerly, the Buddha briefly expounded the essentials of the Dharma for the monks." The second is explaining briefly, in two parts. This is the first, the Buddha first expounding briefly. Sengzhao says: The Tathāgata constantly expounded briefly that conditioned dharmas are impermanent, suffering, empty, and without self, and that unconditioned dharmas are tranquil, extinguished, and unmoving. These two statements summarize all dharmas completely, hence it says "briefly." Daosheng says: Serving as a ford for awakening, like going out through a door.
