所以者何。彼罪生不在內。不在外。不在中間　此二解釋也。肇曰。夫罪累之生因緣所成。求其實性不在。三處如殺因彼。我彼我即內外也。自我即非殺。自彼亦非殺。彼我既非。豈在中間。眾緣所成尋之悉虛也。

"Why is this? The arising of that offense is not within, not without, and not in between." This second is explaining. Sengzhao says: "The arising of the burden of offenses is accomplished through causes and conditions; if one seeks their true nature, it is not in these three places. For instance, killing depends on the other and oneself; 'other and oneself' are precisely the internal and the external. From oneself, it is not killing; from the other, it is also not killing. Since both the other and oneself are not it, how could it be in between? What is formed by many conditions is, when examined, entirely unreal."
