"As for the inexhaustible lamp: it is, for example, like one lamp lighting hundreds of thousands of lamps; all that is dark becomes bright, and the brightness is never exhausted. Like this, sisters, when a single bodhisattva opens the way and guides hundreds of thousands of sentient beings, causing them to generate the mind of anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, their intention for the Way is likewise not extinguished. Following whatever Dharma they expound, they themselves increase all good dharmas: this is called the inexhaustible lamp." Second, explaining and encouraging: the teaching, simile, and application are evident. Zhao says: "Practicing oneself and transforming others, merits ever increase and the light of the Dharma never ceases; this is called the inexhaustible lamp."
