常舉手菩薩 什曰。現已大慈之手撫慰眾生令不恐畏。是以常舉手向人唱言勿怖。
"Constantly Raised Hand Bodhisattva (Nityotkṣiptahasta)," Kumārajīva says: "He manifests a hand of great loving-kindness to comfort sentient beings and keep them from fear; therefore he constantly raises his hand toward people, calling out, 'Do not fear!'"
