彼菩薩曰。菩薩成就幾法。於此世界行五瘡疣生于淨土　此三明淨土之行。文二。此初問也。肇曰。將勵此土始學菩薩令生淨國故發斯問。

Those bodhisattvas said: "How many dharmas must a bodhisattva accomplish to practice without blemish or ulcer in this world and be born in a pure land?" (This is the third major section, explaining practice in the pure land, in two parts. This is the first, the question. Sengzhao says: "Wishing to encourage the beginner bodhisattvas of this land to be born in a pure country, he raises this question.")
