有以菩提樹而作佛事　肇曰。此樹先無不照香無不熏。形色微妙隨所好而見。樹出法音隨所好而聞。此如來報應之樹也。眾生遇者自然悟道。

"There are those that perform Buddha-activities through the Bodhi tree." / Zhao says: "There is nothing this tree does not illumine before, and no fragrance it does not emit. Its shapes and colors are subtle and wondrous, seen according to what one likes; the tree emits Dharma sounds, heard according to what one likes. This is the Tathāgata's tree of retribution and response. Sentient beings who encounter it naturally awaken to the Way."
