知眾生病故不住無為。滅眾生病故不盡有為　肇曰。習知眾生病必之病所。豈住無為之所能。滅眾生病必造有治。豈盡有為之所能。

"Because of knowing the illnesses of sentient beings, they do not abide in the unconditioned; because of extinguishing the illnesses of sentient beings, they do not exhaust the conditioned." Zhao says: "To become familiar with and know the illnesses of sentient beings, one must go to where the illness is; how could this be achieved by abiding in the unconditioned? To extinguish the illnesses of sentient beings, one must perform conditioned cures; how could this be achieved by exhausting the conditioned?"
